For many interested in history, a visit to Sachsenhausen is at the top of the list of must-sees in Berlin. Sachsenhausen wasn’t just a concentration camp, but it also worked as a head quarters for the SS and training camp for the whole system of concentration camps. Thousands of Jews were sent here after the so-called ‘Crystal Night’, and tens of thousands Soviet prisoners died in the camp a few years later.

However, it wasn’t just the Nazis that used Sachsenhausen, the Communists also used the camp as a concentration camp for their political enemies five years after the Nazis had lost and the Soviet Union had taken control over East Berlin.SachsenhausenMadame Tussauds Berlin
