Yes, you read that right! The film about Rocky that was a big hit when it was released in 1976 will now become musical and will be premiered on Broadway in February 2014.
Residents of Hamburg have already been enjoying the great shadow boxing and music like Eye of the Tiger. The music and the lyrics is created by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens who created the musicals Ragtime Lucky Stiff and Thomas Meehan, who wrote the libretto to include Hairspray and Annie.
Who the producer is? Sylvester Stallone who starred Rocky (“The Italian Stallion”).
The musical has the same story as the movie and the cute message that all people might get a chance if they want and try hard to live their dream. Rocky is an unknown boxer in Philadelphia who gets the world’s chance when fate lets him go for a title match against the world heavyweight champion.
